The chairman of
the new B&F Committee is Carmen Battaglia, with committee members: Nadine
Grady, Gary Szymczak, Pam O'Dell, Frank Fasano, James Moses, and Bill
Burggraaf.
While I would have preferred to have someone in charge of budget and
finance who had run a business, I do like the members of the committee. I was
told this national that there is no way to know if the club is spending too
much, or not bringing in enough. The person who told me this is on the
committee, ran his own business and tried to make sense of the accounting of
our club. He told me he can make no sense of it.
I also was bothered that the last act of this board was to go into closed
session at our national.
I would beg them to be more open in the future and remember that the
by-laws under the state of New York, only allows a closed session to non club
members. This is a practice that is going to come back to bite the club
unless someone starts to listen to the legal advice they are getting.
The finances of our club are more important than ever, and with the World
Trials looming, it is going to either make or break our future. I wish them
well.
