Perry, GA was a great National site, IMHO. Want to see something "interesting" in the area??? History buffs can't do much better than Andersonville, which is now, also, a POW memorial. Most sobering and educational. There were nice accommodations, good food, and the beautiful, red clay of Georgia!! I loved it!! As for Topeka, I am anxious to see the big tire plant, if it is still there. Before I was born, my parents lived there, during WWII. My Dad built the plant under a government contract, and I hope it is still there for me to see!! Dad enthralled me with tales of how they managed to party, dance, gamble, and drink in a pretty "dry" state. Things like these are why I could care less if they ever have another National in Southern California. I love to travel and there is SO much to see, coming, going, and during, each National I have been to!! We had to put up with red clay everywhere, a drive of an hour and half from the airport, and in some cases dirty sheets on the beds. But, it was a great site for dogs and a great show. Herding was just outside the back door of the arena. There was plenty of parking and the food, the rooms and everything was inexpensive. That is what we need. I am not a fancy person, (shut up Paul), and I sure don't need a big deal for the show. We used to have dancing before we all started to use walkers. We used to eat at McDonalds, and in Perry they finally got a Wendy's and a great Italian restraurant. In Kansas this year, Summer just told me there is an Oz museum. So, if we get bored, we can go there. Maybe the Wizard will run for the board.
