One of our local rescue heroes is a good friend of mine. We have
absolutely nothing in common but our love for GSD's. I have a great deal of
admiration and appreciation for all she does for these animals, with her own
money
nonetheless. I try to help her the best I can, we get food, do grooms,
socialize and foster anytime we can. She will take in cases that sometimes
make me
shake my head.....gota love her.
Here is a note I got from her this week, the picture is worth a Million
dollars, this dog is such a happy creature now.

Enjoy.

Here is something to bring joy to your heart too. This is a photo of
Stanton, the "500-year old" LHGSD male that I took from AC - he was scheduled
to be
killed because he would snap when they would grab his head. I went to
evaluate him and discovered that he an awful ear infection. I don't know if
you
remember me talking about him - he was the one that charmed me by doing all
kinds of stuff for cookies (sit, down, shake, speak - he really loves the
speak
command).
His ears were so infected that when I started to clean them I had to cut
away the hair that was covering the infection, and out came tons of blood and
pus - it was pretty yucky. Anyway, I figured that I am a sucker and he would
live with me forever as a permanent foster dog. I had him since the beginning
of April/04. Then in early October/05 this woman from Texarkana emailed.
She had recently lost her senior GSD to cancer and was not ready for a puppy,
but she really wanted to meet 10-yr old Stanton. She, her daughter and
son-in-law drove 4-5 hours, spent a couple of hours here, and took Stanton
home
(arriving around 2 or 3am). I couldn't have dreamed up a better home for him.

She sends me photos and emails on a regular basis. This was one of the
latest. The pure joy that he is expressing as he rolls in the leaves (of
course,
right after being groomed) is wonderful. I am thrilled that he was able to
find a home where he can live with love and joy. This is what rescue is all
about. Happy Thanksgiving!
