I had the same problem with some celery the other day. We had grown it over the months and watched it change from a we seedling to a lovely green stalk. Each evening when I got home, I would sit in the celery patch and talk about the cases that day. Every morning I would see the stalk, reaching for the sun of the day, and opening up to catch the water we so often gave. Soon, I noticed that the stalk had grown a leafy green hood, and was ready to harvest. I never could eat it, after all the time we had spent together. Tedi chopped it up into a salad.
