I can attest to what Ann has said. Not only is Gena a talented young
lady, she is extremely polite and willing to learn. She is what we
need and should mentor so her interest and desire continues to grow.

12 year old Gena Nowicki , from Michigan, is also very talented. She
put majors on a 13 month old Novice bitch and puppy at specialties
this spring for me. She finished another bitch this summer with back
to back majors. She finished her own dog and won in both rings with
him. I give her all my untrained puppies and wild things and she has
learned a lot from them. She has the will to win and she listens to
what she is told. Give a junior a well trained dog in the ring, but if
they are going to learn they have to know how to handle the wild ones
as well.

Evan,
Thank you so much for thinking of this and seeing your idea through to
a full fledged award program! I have always supported jrs and will
continue too in every way I can.
Also, everyone going to the National please consider contacting one of
these very talented Young handlers for your entry! I would suggest
only fairly ring trained dogs because we want dog and handler to have
a positive experience but please consider them! We have seen jrs with
good dogs do some pretty amazing winning! Off the top of my head lets
see.. Mike Sherman(daughter Trinity is on the way winning best puppy
in Match) olivia, christina,Hunter & Summer just starting out are going
to be very competitive. I know of several more awesome jr handlers but
my memory is shot so please forgive for not mentioning them. I see
great things in the future as this award and competition grow. I hope
one day to see a portion of the fund set aside to pay travel expenses
to a child who could not attend the National due to financial
difficulties. I know details have to be worked out but perhaps this
could be added in years to come??? Im just so excited to see kids
being encouraged to be in
d
ogs! Its truly a huge benefit to the future of our breed! Thanks again
Evan & all who participate!
Tami

I finally received a letter from the AKC. They recognize and appreciate
what we are doing for the Juniors. Thanks to our board and their vote,
the
GSDCA is also behind what we are doing.

I wanted to thank everyone who sent in a contribution. Some of those
donations I know where a struggle, and we all have felt the decline in
finances, me as well. But, there are some things that scream out for a
helping
hand, and I wanted to mention how much I appreciate it.

I did decide to keep all donations secret. It is just because I know
that
everyone appreciates and recognizes the importance to our club the
efforts
of our youth. If you can't afford to donate, it does not indicate
you do
not realize the efforts of the kids. There can be a number of
reasons why
this year you needed to pass on the donations. Next year is another
year.
Next year I am going after sponsors as well.

I also want to thank all of you who have given me suggestions on how
to set
this up, what to award, how to gain the most advantage to the program,
and
thoughts about how to make it more effective. Since this is the first
year, I have settled on a plan, but may change it for next year.

Right now I have the commitment of Frank Fasano to send me the names and
addresses of each Junior Handler entered in the Big Show. I will mail
to
each of them a gold pin, to wear all during the National so we know
they are
entered and they can be proud of that pin. If they fail to come to the
National, they will at least have the pin to show they were entered.

I then have a gold medal on a ribbon for each class winner. When the
Best
Junior Handler is selected he/she will be given a large gold medal on a
ribbon. Then at the After Show Dinner the Junior winner will be called
up and
be given a plaque.

After the show is over, and I know the birth date of the Junior, I will
purchase a United States Savings bond to mature on his/her 18th
birthday. I am
still working on the details, but it will be 100% of what has been
received as donations.

I was going to only give 75% to keep the bank account open, but
instead I
will make my 2013 donation to keep open the bank account for the next
National. None of the expenses will come from the donations, and 100%
of what
you donate will go the winner of the Junior Handler competition.
Remember
the corporation I set up is a non-profit, so all donations can be
deducted
from your income tax.

My intent is to show these kids how much we appreciate them, and to
encourage them to enter and compete.

Be sure to go to the site and see who is now featured, and remember
all of
this is free to the Juniors, and the bios and the pictures are what we
offer at our expense.

I also want to thank my advisors Frank Fasano and Nancy McDonald. With
all
they do, they found time to help me with this project.
