This past weekend marked the official beginning of the 2012 dog show season for
those of us in the Rocky Mountain region. On the heels of Westminster - Plum
Creek and Colorado Kennel Clubs work tirelessly to bring some of the glamour of
the Garden to Denver in the form of the Rocky Mountain Cluster shows. With
specialty and group shows on Thursday - they present 5 days of exhibition to 15
rings and lots of special attractions that include weight pull, earth dog and
fly ball demos as well as Meet the Breeds and breed seminars.
This year, there was a great number of exceptional dogs that competed for the
accolades that accompany being selected as the best of the best. I was
fortunate to have one of our own GSD specialists - Dr. Carmen Battaglia select
my bitch Terra Norte's Pastoria of Oz "Torre" (Terra Norte's Colin Powell x
Terra Norte's Glinda v Homar) as winners bitch and best of winners on Saturday
for a 4 pt. major from the American Bred class, owner handled.
Special thanks to everyone ringside who were so generous with your support and
good wishes. What a great way to start the 2012 show season!
