Stormy is right... this is WAY BEYOND CA... and this is National and it is
vital! NOW is the time to pressure your Senator and Representative... Just
Vote NO....
In case you had dificulty reading the bill language let me repeat it
here....
(a) RETAIL PET STORE DEFINED.
Section 2 of the Animal Welfare Act (7 U.S.C. 2132) is amended by adding at
the end the following NEW subsection:
bb(p) The term retail pet store means a person that
(1) sells an animal directly to the public for use as a pet;
AND (2) does NOT breed or raise more than 50 dogs for use as pets during any
one-year period.
That means EVERYONE.
Remember the DDAL(Doris Day Animal League) lawsuit a few years back? This is
exactly what they sued to change... the courts denied them back then.
Well... in case anyone was sleeping through all this... DDAL is now a part
of HSUS......

This is WAY more than California, but will need what we did in this state to
stop this bill. Remember, Durbin was co-sponser of PAWS (with AKC and
HSUS,
