Gayle Taylor is here and I ate with Jack Newton.  Sam Israel is here  with
his puppy.  Very nice looking puppy. Vivian yelled at me and Sam for
talking.

I think Ginnie is talking about a conflict with the board meeting date and
Easter.  Since it is in the by-laws there isnâ??t much that can be done about
it.  I guess there is a problem that they are having a board meeting on
the  date of a futurity.  I guess there is a conflict, but I canâ??t figure
out
what they are talking about. I am tired and I am not doing anything.  Zoe
seemed to know when Easter was. For a Jewish, that is interesting.

There is a motion to have the next board meeting by video phone to take
care of the conflict.  Bart wants to know the technical needs and Pam
explains it to him.  Frank and Pam do it all the time, it is going to be
interesting to see if it works.

Jim suggests a practice run before the meeting.  The board seems  energized
again, and lots of talking.  When they have the meeting it should  be so
that the members can log on too, and watch it.  No one seems to have  thought
of that, again, forgetting the little people. I canâ??t complain, they are
working so hard to get things resolved.

Tish moves the meeting on.  April board meeting is a conference call.

Carolyn is talking about the 13 club.  It is open to everyone, not  just
club members. The purpose is to gather information about breed and
breeding.
Stormy just told me that Barbara Williams uses this on health  and research
findings.  People can apply as soon as he dog is past 12 years  old. They
get a certificate, and then another when the dog passes.

Dania is here too, but standing up now. This is a real ordeal and most of
our board has been working for two days already.   We do need to let  them
know how much we appreciate them. The California Clubs has sponsored the
Casino Night. The room is locked, so I donâ??t know who is going to open it,
but
we have three hours to find out.

Carolyn wants to put the data on the web, but has been denied the chance to
do that to date.  I can see that as a problem without the permission of
each owner. You could put a release on the application, but so far it isnâ??t
being done. So, if the board does allow it, they need to consider the
legalities. That is why this club should require an attorney on the board at
all
times.  I was dissapointed to see that the board does not have anyone with
a legal background sitting with them now.  I can see it as a real  problem.
Tish suggested it be put on the web site and no one is  considering the
legal release of the information.  Carolyn says she puts a  release on the
application.

Jimmy talks about longevity and says this is one of our big problems.

Ginnie says the 13 club should be aligned with the health and genetics
committee.

Stormy is giving her report.  She sent the reports out under the board
reports.  She is talking about legislative liason.  She says P&P  Manual
legislation is only mentioned twice.  As we talked earlier, there  wasnâ??t
as much
breed specific legislation in the past.

Stormy thinks legislation is as important as any other aspect of our  club.
We need to take steps now to fight the issues and continue to fight  the
battle. She wants a legislative committee with members and direct
involvement.  She wants to tie it to Futuities so that it is higher on the
priority.

They are trying to reach Tom Mesdagg is on the phone. Ginnie is here
talking to Stormy. Bill seems to have a wrong number.  We have Tom on the
phone.
2013 is a big undertaking.  He has met a lot with the WDA and  Tish.  He
has formed a number of committees to deal with it.  He says  there are at
least 15 committees to deal with it.  He has full commitments  from the WDA,
Cindy to follow it to the end.

We are now ready to send form letters to get agreements, and to get
permission from the individuals together so no one person will make
decisions.
Tom is going to put out an agenda in 2011 and bring back  reports as to where
they are, every two months, and in 2012 every month, and in  2013 every two
weeks.

Bart wants to know if we have the committee members for the board by
April.  Or at least know what the committees are.   Each  committee will
be
backed by co-chaired so that everyone will be set by  April.  Tom is
concerned
that not everyone will be in the for long haul,  But he will keep them
involved and he sees his job as connection between the  chairs.

Nancy wants to start solicitation to cover expenses.  She will be
depending on sponsors.  She is concerned that World Trial people will not
over
contact with the World Trial people.  She suggested International for  World
Trial, and centennial with local or German shepherd lovers.  She  wants to
partner with Tom as quickly as possible.

Tom has asked for funds from Nike and Champion Nox Fire, who he is going to
go after.  He is also considering the 501c, and wants the funding to come
from individuals.  He has identified 50 organizations that he intends to
approach.  Nancy wants a list and she will give her list to Tom.

Tom says Dean is going to be a major part in this.  Nancy would like  Tom
with her with a trip to Philadelphia to visit the Chamber of
Commerce.   Dean
asked if the WDA will meet with the GSDCA, and evidently not.

There are only about 15 of club members here, so we are outnumbered by the
board. I wanted to get more, but I guess everyone was concerned about the
location and costs of this hotel. The food is a bit high, but what is normal
for  LAX.

USA is not a friendly organization to us.  That is what I wanted to  hear,
and have been told that they might help us. Evidently they are not going  to
support the World Trials.  I think they are the major Working Dog club,  so
it is going to be interesting to see what happens if they try to work
against  us.

Bart tell Tish she has to be involved, and keep active to make sure it is
handled correctly.  It is important that we keep the WDA together, and not
work against them.  Tish is going to try to work with the WDA and show a
presence.

Ginnie says it is important to keep the WDA involved if the board
contributes to their team for this yearsâ?? event.  She is asking to board
to  give
something to them. I am not sure who is going to deal with the  conflict.

WE GOT A BREAK.

It gets harder and harder to get everyone back into the chairs.  So,  itâ??s
up to Carole Moore with the Futurity systems.  She is not asking for
comments.  There was a recomendation in the past to get rid of the
plaques.
There were so many objections she wants to recind the  motion.  Carole moves
to
recind the prior motion to not give plaques.   There is a lot of talk about
how to do that, and so they are going to suggest  that Carole recind her
prior motion to eliminate the plaques.

There is some discussion and Frank talks about the input over the plaques.
He is concerned with the expenses, and that is the overriding concern.
Carole has told me that the Futurity had not lost money, but Frank now says it
has, and Carole says it did.

It is tough to get this board to approve anything that costs money. Carole
has found ways to cut expenses, ask the clubs to donate, and maybe
eliminate all  placings.   Fred claims the Futurity is important and cut
some other
place.  It is the second most important activity of our club.

Nadine says entries are so small we might want to change the second third
and fourth to a ribbon.  Bart says the new people love the wood and for new
people we should give them more.
Jim talks about waiting to prepare plaques  until we see the entries and
save that money.   Carole says it can be  done that way, and the person who
will make them, will wait to make  them.
Dean talks about a number of entries not showing up.  Carole says  the
returned plaques can be reused year after year. The high gloss lets them
remove
the plate and use them over the next year.

Carole has done a great job finding a way to reduce the costs and it sure
sounds like a good resolution with keeping the plaques for the members.

Carmen says we lost so much money with the free nominations.  No one  has
said how many entries we would have lost, if you were charging for those
litters. I wonder how many of the free litters nominated were shown and paid
entry fees.

The removal of the plaques was reversed.  I had suggested a  certificate to
be redeemed for the plaques.  Carole didnâ??t react when I  told her, but now
she is suggesting it. They are now looking at a smaller  plaque.  Carole
moves to use the smaller plaques.  The same size for  all the classes.
Again,
it is a cost issue.   Carole says a  bigger size for Best and Best
Opposite.

Jimmie is talking about how important it is to make something special for
the winners.

The board wants Carole to determine what it will cost for bigger  plaques.
She thinks it is about $2.00 more a plaqued. She is going to  check it out.

On to Nancy Harper who is reslendent in a bright red jacket.  She is
talking about a flow chart for the centennial. She is talking about the
events
who is going to do seating, rooms and set up, VIPs, and she needs more from
the  World Trials and what they need.  She wants great prices on room rates
since we will fill the hotels.  She is talking about a commertive booklet,
and DVDs.  Carmen will work with the AKC to coordinate it with AKC and
support.  AKC is open to helping with this. Lew Bunch is approved as the
fund
raiser. He is also doing the web site.  The budget is under budget for  the
web site.  The site has been developed and is ready to go live.   The site
will have the beginning of the breed from 1913.  There will be  links to
Ernie
Loeb, Marie Leary etc. Tom and Vivian Brown has found some papers  from the
first national.  She is still looking for historic  materials.  Jack Newton
has some things, and I found some things I have  sent Nancy too.

There are letters from Marie Leary, and they will be there to be seen at
the show. They have Reviews from 1913 on up, that will be available. When the
web site is ready it will be announced and available to the members. The
domain  name is German shepherd 100 years and German shepherd centennial.
Everyone is working on products and things to be sold.

Gary has a logo to show us, and Dean is working or promotions and the logo
is very cool.  There will be a thanks to the military all five  branches.
They hope to have service dogs from all wars and branches of the  service.

We are getting films from Washington of films of dogs who have worked in
all wars, and also awards given to them.  We will add all these films and
DVDs together with narative. It will be a historical film for all
time.   Bart
will have the logo on items for sale at all futuries.  It will make a
provit of $2,000.00.  The host club will sell them to start promoting 2013
show.  We got a $10,000 donation from an anonymous donation and two  military
people sponsored with no cost from our club.

It sounds like it is coming together. This board is working overtime to get
this done. If it works, it will be a change in the direction of our club
and our  breed.   They are planning a dinner for 650 people including the
governor, etc.

Jimmie wants to know who did the web site. Pam Stosser did it first,  and
she has taught Lew how to manage it, and so Lew is going to manage it.
There will be no maintanance cost.  There is a $900 invoice for the initial
work, and it is below the budget.  The centennial will be with dancing and  a
great party.  It is going to be figured out how to combine the two events
and still do something for the conformation dogs.

The next meeting is going to be on the net, so maybe we can all be there. I
talked to Frank and Tish about making sure the membership can watch. You
should  see how strong and how hard these folks work.  I have always said if
you  watched the board you would appreciate how much they do for us.

They approved to pay Pam her costs, and everyone is burned out, and it is
hard to even get them to vote, but they did.

Tish is giving the report on the WDA meeting in Atlanta.  I am sitting
next to Dan Yee who is from the WDA.  There is a new WSV show, and it will
be
in Austria.  The GSDCA need to authorize the WDA to be involved. The
GSDCA-WDA needs to approve this and how much to give.

The board voted to approve it. Nancy opposes and so does Fred  Migliore.
Now, to decide how much to donate to the WDA.  Carmine says  they discussed
it and the president of the WDA sent a copy of expenses.   This was a show
in
Austria, minimum expense is $13,000.  We are requested  to pay 60%.

The Univeral Seger has been around a long time sponsored by the SV.   It
was to identify the breeding stock. This is the first time of a show for this
group. There have been three regionals.  The nationals for this will be who
goes to the trial and show.  This is for working and breeding dogs.   The
dogs will be rated.

Ken wants to know if team uniforms and the answer is yes, but probably only
three .  They have asked us to pay $8,400.00.  Carmine does not make a
recomendation.   He wants to figure out if we can save $51,000 and  then
come
back and make a figure that they can afford.

It has been said it is important for the GSDCA to be seen at the show, but
no money is allocated.

The WUSV wants a combined team for the world trials in 2011.  USA has
talked to Tish and others to negotiate with them, and come up with an
agreement.  It is the logistics on how to do it and who will host it,  etc.
Tish
makes it clear that the USa is not a friend of our club.   Now USA wants a
combined trial.
Bart didnâ??t know that there were two  clubs from the United States at the
SV. It has been that way for years.

I have listened to as much board as I can. They have another half our to
go, and I have to go set up the tables and make sure the dealers are ready to
go. So, try to come to a meeting, and to watch on the net if it works.

Thanks for reading.
