It has been proven that bitches bred more frequently conceive better.
Skipping bitches is something we "humans" feel is necessary. If the body
doesn't feel that it is prepared to handle a conception and carry puppies
to term..it won't allow it. nature does a great job of taking care of
things..humans usually screw it up. that is why I take issue with the
"Breeders" Code" when it states that bitches can't be bred more than 3
times in a row without a vets OK..what the Hell does the vet know? does he
know more about the bitch than you do..what if she had 3 litters in a row
of 2 puppies each.If you are a qualified and knowledgeable breeder you know
what you bitches can handle and if and when they should be bred. The Red
Book is great tool for many reasons, that is if you know how to read it. It
shows statistics and you can tell who are really the producers..and who
have been bred to be made to "look" like producers. people don't some to
comprehend that a dog bred 40 times with 30 champions is a much better
producer than a dog bred 150 times with 60 champions. C.Grainger
