i wasn't so concerned about 'show' dogs but about uniformity of good
structure/temperament etc. and definitely genetic health. if there is no
standard to follow, eventually what would the dog look like? Yes, there are a
lot of GSDs registered with AKC, but what does that mean? Just that it is
registered as a GSD genetically.
It may have weak ears, weak pasterns, straight shoulder, etc. Still could be a
nice dog but after awhile what? We can see this even now when there is a
standard. It is like if there is no goal, you will hit it every time.
