[ SHOWGSD-L ] The National

It is a foregone conclusion that there will be positive and negative
comments after every National. Sometimes we have a little more of one or the
other.
I personally thought that this year there was special attention given to
details in regards to honoring our ever so involved members like Ann Mesdag,
Bob Penny, Helen Miller-Fisher, etc. using a well decorated go cart for
their pleasure, the special attention given to the future of our breed, our
Junior Handlers, and there were many, and the well decorated hall in which
the Dinner was held.
It was unfortunate that the mike did not reach far enough back so that
everyone could hear the speeches - perhaps it was a blessing? Depends on
what the individual preferred, I guess.
I could feast my eyes on those beautiful GSD's all day, and there were many.
A special moment was when Alvin paraded in the ring and everyone clapped and
called his name, and then on his way out he actually turned around to see
who was calling him, unbelievably great. To see Gail Sprock in the ring with
a Special. These and many more were unforgettable moments.
I enjoyed the friends I made from years ago and seeing them again was worth
coming to the National to again. Was introduced to many new people until I
got confused as to which husband belonged with which wife. That's a definite
NoNo.
Several regrets:
I do regret not giving Sandy Dancosse a shoulder to cry on when Tom
Castriota's name was mentioned and she broke down and cried.
I regret not being able to take home one of those gorgeous little puppies
there to be socialized.
I regret not having had the opportunity to eat one of those great barbecued
ribs they were talking about or tasting a White Castle.
I also regret not having taken home some of those colorful leaves of autumn
that covered the country side that I wanted to bring home to Arizona
thinking of days gone by.
Do you suppose I could get some snow from Denver next year?
I will be there! This time with a dog. I missed my babies so much. Good to
be back.
