I agree.
First of all, I feel that in my little world I am spending too much time on
my computer that I should have used taking the dogs for a walk or doing
whatever I have done before the computer came into being. And now with all
this new stuff there won't be any time to enjoy what God has given us, free,
the beautiful world outside of your 4 walls. Right now I see the dogs
sitting beside me and urging me to get off my duff and play with them.
Just JCP says so well Enough.Is.Enough.
Let us enjoy our list as there are real people with real problems and those
special ones that are our problem solvers. This seems a lot more important
to me than displaying my pictures or whatever else I have to display for all
the world to see. JMHO

At the risk of being flamed into oblivion, I have to
question the wisdom behind the above information. First of
all, neither of these sites are "social media" sites. Each
has a distinct purpose. I don't know much about LinkedIn,
but my hubby does. It's basically only used for networking
of businesses and business people. ??? <shrugs>
Flickr is a site dedicated toward the sharing of
photographs and videos that YOU, yourself, have made. It
is definitely not the place to be sharing "professional"
photos such as show shots that you don't own the rights
to. That is NOT what Flickr is about. I already saw one of
these up there last night. A nice photo to be sure, but
definitely not the venue! There are no discussion "lists"
on Flickr. Flickr is strictly about the taking, sharing
and storing of photographs and, to a lesser extent, brief
videos as well as becoming a better photographer! Yes,
there's a place to "discuss" on each Flickr group,
including the GSDCA, but I really think you guys are
missing the point and spirit of Flickr. You can discuss
PLUS put up and share all the photos you want on FB
(probably even the show shots you don't own) so why the
interest in Flickr group? It just seems so.... extraneous!
You know what? I really appreciate what Kathy has done and
I absolutely honor that accomplishment. So please don't
think these remarks are to take something away from her
because I assure you, that is not the spirit I'm posting
in. But there's definitely something to be said for *NOT*
spreading everything around too thin lest we lose
ourselves completely. Already, participation on this list
is WAY down. If we keep up with this dilution of our
already-existing discussion groups, I fear they will all
die just the way Usenet groups have died. Someone already
mentioned this here before and they were correct.
Participation IS down because everyone is migrating to the
'next new, cool' thing. I'd hate to lose a site with as
much deep and wonderful wisdom as this one.
