When I was a little girl and lived in MN, we used to get REAL winter - snow
up to our shoulders, huge mounds to climb on, etc. I walked to grade school
(about a half mile) and there was nothing more fun than a fresh batch of
snow... Cold never bothered us - we were out until the stars were showing. I
remember it used to be really cold on New Years Eve and you could hear the
wind
howling, yet everyone would still be outside.
That must have been 30-40 yrs ago.I've been in this MN house for 50 yr,and
it used to be that I had to shovel to get through the gate of the kennel 6 ft
fencing to get into the yard and then shovel to get into the kennel
building.The dogs loved it-- to be let out into the 3 acre area to run and
play
--jumping into the drifts,chasing the snow rabbits( never caught them) And
then
the first 3 weeks of January were about 40 degrees below zero Our weather has
definitely warmed up. But,when I still leave shovels by the back door ,kennel
gate,Front steps,garage doors. Old habits are hard to break <G>
