Everyone would like the national specialty show, closer to them. I would
assume that many weigh the following aspects when considering to enter any
show let alone the National. Additional criteria such as Judges and the dogs
you have available to exhibit would certainly be other factors in reaching a
decision whether or not to enter any given show.
In general I don't like to fly with dogs, its quite the hassle.
These are my current estimates based on gas at $3.25 gal. These costs are
for the travel only, and do not include the hotel, entries, meals, handling
fees that will be constant for every show/national

1 Day 600 Miles or less

My understanding regarding National location policy(Post Survey), was Center
of the country East, Center of the country Middle, Center of the country
West. This policy allows a huge majority of exhibitors to be within one days
drive of the national 2 out of 3, or 4 out of 5 years. I am more then
willing to make up the difference in the cost of the show site with my
entries, as that is a great deal less expensive(divided across the entire
entry of course) then the additional travel costs would be to the less
expensive site. An example of this, $8000.00 additional cost, divided by
approx 800 total entries, would result in a $10.00 per entry up
charge($30.00 in my example) vs. an additional $1000.00 to travel several
extra days to a cheaper location.
These are just my thoughts on what goes into showing dogs or not to show
dogs.
