In "the old days," it was customary for stud dog owners to have "stud cards." They were often about 4 x 6 or thereabouts...there'd be a photo of the dog on one side with his name and his owner's name and contact info... then the other side would have a 3 generation pedigree and maybe a line or two about what the dog could do (fix ears, bring more substance, etc) and maybe what he'd won, if he'd done anything really big. I used to collect them... never saw one for a German Shepherd, tho.
