[ SHOWGSD-L ] The Balance of Life

They say that life has a way of balancing out in the long run. I
suppose that is true.
I am happy to be in St Louis for the National. With friends, and with
great dogs.
It is late Tuesday night. I've been to the arena, and as others have
said, the ring and the sod looked great. Many vendors were in the
process of setting up while I was there. Bill and I worked on getting
an internet connection working, and we at least have Bill connected.
We should be able to get additional connectivity tomorrow. The
temperament test was still going on after 5pm local time. It is
shaping up to be a great National.
On the flip side of this balance of life thing, I am saddened to
report that our first champion, Tara-Airway Sony Frankenhaus, TC HIC,
OFA passed over the rainbow bridge on Monday while we were in the
final stages of preparing to leave for St Louis. She didn't quite
make it to the 13 Club. Her 12th birthday would have been in January.
She was my special dog, and will be missed sorely. She did everything
that was asked of her, taught us a lot about showing, and not taking
it too seriously (she was the only dog I've ever seen that could yawn
and sleep right outside the ring till it was her time to compete,
then go in and do her thing just because she new I wanted her to...
otherwise it was just not that important to her <g>). She gave us
three litters of typey, stylish puppies, and lived out the last years
of her life as the resident couch potato. Sony was by Ch Ken-Delaines
Taylor Made ROM OFA and out of BIF Ch Tara-Airway's Reba of Eberling
TC HIC ROM.
