This is a weird story but relates to what you are saying about genetics.
Many moons ago, I helped a friend obtain a GSD puppy. I knew nothing about
GSD's at the time but did know about dogs and dog breeding. The pup was a
monorchid. I advised the owner to neuter him. He didn't and the dog and his
bitch had pups. All the male pups were normal. So, he thought it was a fluke
and
bred him to another bitch. Guess what, all the males were either cryptorchid
or monorchid. Got him neutered after that. The bitch can't take all the
blame but if they both carry the gene, you will get the same results. Quick
lesson in genetics for him.
