[ SHOWGSD-L ] TOPLINE Specialty June 14 Show CANCELLED

At this time, I am VERY disappointed to have to say that our AKC 2008
June Conformation Show scheduled for on Saturday June 14, the day
before the GSDCA Midwest Futurity/Maturity, will need to be cancelled
due to not getting AKC approval for the showsite in Big Bend, WI.
An alternate show site has not been able to be secured.
According to the AKC, there was a 200-mile show conflict with Grand
Traverse (MI) Kennel Club that could not be resolved despite the best
of efforts from many, many people. Yes, it is over 400 driving miles
between showsites, but the AKC must still use a string and a pushpin
on a map to determine 200 "air" miles, not actual driving distances
per Mapquest, etc. Even Dr. Carmen Battaglia stepped in to try &
reason with the AKC on this point for us, but to no avail. Rules are
rules we were told.
