I am not against showing long coats, it is setting up a class which in my
opinion says the fault is okay, lets embrace it and make a class for them to be
shown in. They don't need a seperate class, they can be shown in the regular
classes like every other dog that has a missing tooth, or bad temperament,
locked hocks right along with the other dogs that do not have these faults and
I am okay with that. But a seperate class, there is no need. The dogs with a
missing tooth can be beautifully structured and move correctly they don't have
their own class. Show your coats no one is stopping you, it doesn't say you
can't show them. But to have a seperate class to me is not right. There are
other ways to make money without sacrificing our breed / standard.
Another thing, if we are trying to make money because of the Centennial
Celebration with the WDA portion of it which I have always said we may have
bitten off more then we can afford, if this is the reason for trying to make
more money etc., then maybe we should not have extended ourselves in the first
place.
I am trying to be a team player here but I just do not agree with a few things
that is happening. Money isn't worth sacrificing the integrity of the GSD
standard and the breed. Show your coats if they are good enough, the judge
will and some have put them up, there is no need for a seperate class to judge
them.

I agree with Chris. This class will not hurt anyone. Those that want to show
heir long coats will enter. Long coats are not for everyone, but they do
appen and they are German Shepherd Dogs. I showed a long coat in a futurity
nd placed. That was years ago when placing in a futurity was a big deal. I
dmit that her head was a little cleaned up, but nevertheless she had beautiful
tructure and character. She was then placed in a pet home and enjoyed a good
ife as a companion. This was my mistake. I should have kept her and bred her.
ontrolling the long coat gene is not difficult, you just have to do some
esearch on what you are planning to breed to.
The board is trying to think outside of the box and include others to help the
rganization. This is a good thing. Not all ideas are great, but they are
hinking and trying to help. They work many hours for the benefit of this
rganization. I applaud their efforts.
The World Trial is another topic I want to comment on. The entire Centennial
elebration is a HUGH undertaking and needs the support of all members and non
embers. The WDA portion of the GSDCA-WDA is working diligently to make this a
onderful event for all who attend. Not everyone has the expertise to assist on
he World Trial portion as a worker, but you can purchase a dinner ticket, come
o the stadium and watch our breed perform, and purchase a remembrance of the
ntire event. We are all one family. We own German Shepherd Dogs. This is not
bout bloodlines, it is about OUR breed and OUR club. We can make this a
uccess!

inking than we've had in a while, so I try to support some of these ideas, at
east not blast them out of the saddle for trying a new program, even if
