ABs are much easier, many more dogs and more diseases to test for.

Why not appeal to the ego?  Open performance events up to AB/mixed breeds and 
get that competitive nature going.  We like to win and Dog forbid some mutt can 
do better than my purebred :-)  
 
Health testing is another issue.  If it is available, people will take 
advantage of it to save a trip and expense to their vet.  The main issue there, 
in some locations, is getting a good vet to agree to come in and be available 
for a limited number of dogs, as in a specialty.

We ran CERF testing at our CLUSTER SHOWS (ALL BREED, 4 different local Kennel 
Clubs
plus Specialty Clubs). A Certified Canine Opthamologist came in for a flat fee, 
ran the test, performed the necessary paper work) had people come in from 100's 
of miles  away. Net proceeds went to Junior handlers organization. The problem 
became because it was too successful, and everyone wanted a piece of the  pie. 
 
You can also run you own BLOOD DRAWS - AKC DNA, OFA DNA, THYROID, PF and all 
the 
genetic BLOOD DRAWS for all breeds. End of day send samples and paperwork to 
appropriate labs. All you need is a retired  Vet or donated  Vet and some Vet 
Techs (volunteers) 
 
Another idea CGC TEST and TDI TEST at your shows, These are not GENETIC but 
sure 
indicate how socialized a dog is.
 
FUND RAISERS are out there everywhere; you just have to think outside the  box 
ond organize.
 
AND often remind the ORGANIZERS of the SHOW, that WE are here for the BREED not 
just for pretty intertainment. The Clubs have a responsibility to the BREED - 
health and rescue, remind the OFFICERS of that and remind them OFTEN.
 
Rally and Obedience have done more intertainment wise and profitability wise 
than the AKC or LOCALor NATIONAL KENNELS ever imagined. And yet the PURIST 
still 
oppose these 2 venues of great interest and profitability. The more people that 
show in some venue the more people will attend and watch, the more dogs 
available for testing, the more educated people become. the better 
understanding 
of the  BREEDS
