Designates the German Shepherd Dog as the official state dog.
The bill is under consideration in the NY Assembly Governmental
Operations Committee

Currently the state of New York does not have an official state dog.
Eleven other states have designated a dog to be a representative of
their state.
Designating the German Shepherd Dog as the official state dog would be
a representation and a symbol of all of the fine and brave dogs that
did that remarkable and dangerous undertaking that fateful day... 9/11.
Dogs are being memorialized throughout the world for their efforts as
War Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs, Assistance Dogs, Therapy Dogs and so
much more. No dog is more recognizable as a symbol of those missions
than the German Shepherd Dog.
The wonderful and most recognizable tribute to America's Search and
Rescue dogs was the DOGNYsm statues that utilized the German Shepherd
Dog as their symbol.
These statues are the symbol of all those marvelous dogs and most
visible as the German Shepherd Dog. The German Shepherd Dogs is
remembered through those statues and through deeds as the hero of 9-11.
The German Shepherd Dogs exemplifies fearlessness and self-confidences
and bravery; traits that New Yorkers displayed that fateful day.
The German Shepherd Dog has a recognizable silhouette from the many
times it has been portrayed as a symbol of faith, protection and
security.
