Kate, I think very few people do their homework today. We see handlers
controling many people's breeding programs and turning out cookie cutter
puppies that are close enough to the standard to finish, but good or great, NOT

If someone comes to you with a bitch that you think your stud can help
improve any faults in her pups, why not you take an opportunity to engage
them in
discussions about the faults and the breed and educate them about the
purpose

read any of the numerous books out there available on that very subject.
They have not done their homework or are looking to make back the money they
shelled out on purchasing their bitch by selling puppies that will have some
poor champion's name on the puppies that will be sold undercutting the

rate... no doubt.
Trying to breed up to the standard takes years... may be generations even
for competent Breeders.
Accepting mediocre genes into the Breed will come back to bite you one day.
The sudden appearance of something you've never had (wry mouth as an
example)... We have enough variations of the standard.... lets not weaken
them now, too.
The all mighty buck..... ain't that a crying shame this day and age.
