Carolyn is (as usual) correct. When I first questioned this principle to Bobby
McMahon (what a mentor she was) she gave me a great visual.....a longer stick
was harder to balance than a shorter one....so simple.
A dog with a longer hock will move faster but the one with a shorter hock will
have a stronger hind quarter, will better engage the forequarter, will have
better ability to remain balanced and more endurance.
So, do you want speed or endurance?
