Jackie,
Its all relative. GSDs are (mostly) under 100 lbs. and their structure takes
the same beating as a horse would...its a matter of "matter". Of course the
better built animal is bound to work better, if it has the right mind. But
that's a different subject...<G>.
I firmly believe you can better appreciate structure in a GSD when you learn
about other breeds and species (large cats and horses come to mind) and you can
compare built (form) to their movement (function).
The loosenes or tightness required in pasterns, necks, backs, hindquarters,
upperarm, etc., to better "absorb" impact but remaining functional AND
effective speaks of intelligent breedings.
Funny how Mother Nature gets it right most of the time <G>.
