<<two dogs are not related in awy way and they don't walk on any of the same ground. They live about 5 houses apart and BOTH dogs chew their toenails off. The vet's (2 different vets) have told them that it is common in GSD's, yet I had never heard of such a thing either. BOTH are house dogs.>> My GSD boy would do this to his hind toenails. I just blamed it on the cat as he does the same thing. My old dog, an Australian Cattle Dog, would chew hers on all four feet. I didn't mind much as it created less nail clipping for me.
