That is the truth. I had it in a Lab litter many years ago. It is fast,
ugly and deadly. The pups decline in hours/minutes. That said, two days is
NOT
a long enough incubation time for it to have come from your kennel if none of
the other dogs have become ill. And, it is not only the stools effected.
Eating stops, they vomit and become lethargic, all very quickly. Right before
they die, they will stop drinking any water. It is horrible.
Based on the original post, I would say a misdiagnosis as well. But I would
sure be looking and checking on all the other pups, just in case.
As for a timeline on whelping in the same area, I had another litter 6 mos
later. (don't go there, it was a booboo litter) Used the same whelping box
(bleached, of course) Same bitch and a litter of 11. Lost one that the bitch
rolled on and suffocated but the litter was healthy. The earliest to die was
age
4, hit by a car. The rest of the litter lived to 11-15 years. So, I know
Parvo can't live for 6 mos, especially after bleach.
