[ SHOWGSD-L ] Spindle cell tumor

I told a friend who is heartbroken I would post her problem to the list and see
what experiences people have had. Two years ago her spayed, nine year old,
German bred bitch had a spindle cell tumor on her side. It grew very rapidly
but she had surgery and all has been fine. Last week another tumor appeared on
the top of a front paw. Their vet doesn't want to operate as he thinks the
tumor has involved ligaments and tendons. He gives her about a year to live.
Another vet recommends surgery. Amputation is not an option for the owners.
Radiation would involve her going to the nearest veterinary hospital (10 hours
away) and staying there for two months. She wonders if there are any
chemotherapy treatments available and what peoples' experiences have been with
this type of tumor.
