A minor fix for dwindling Specialty entries, that will cost no money, need
no region recalculating,
but may just help us get more entries is TO SLOW THE DOGS DOWN. WAAAAY
DOWN.
If we work the dogs at the CORRECT speed, not racing like finishers at the
Derby, it would
certainly allow more people to show their own dogs.
But this also means we will really have to WORK them. Not just once or
twice around at the
"speed of stink", but several times around at a more metered, cadenced pace.
I am NOT a fan of the running at one's side I see at a lot of the AB shows,
but at least
a non handler can go in and have a shot.
This is really glaring at our National Specialty where it looks as though ,
he who finishes first ,
wins. Very disappointing to see this again, and again, and again.
Slow them down....what are we afraid of?
