Has anyone ever seen this happen in a bitch? I have a 2 year old black&tan
bitch whose salt&pepper coloring on her neck and back is turning red. Not a
tan-red, but a red-red. I've seen this a few times in European dogs, but this
bitch is 100% American lines.

I'm just guessing that maybe 'mother nature' has a bit of say in why
bitches have salt and pepper and most males do not. If you look to the wild
most
females of any species are colored to blend in and not be conspicuous
whereas the male of the species are usually more vibrant in their coloration as
they do not typically stay with the young. Genetics also plays a role in
coloration as we all strive for the rich pigmentation, but sometimes you just
can't fool mother nature. Just my thoughts on the subject.
