Everyone has to do what they believe is best. But, it is always better to
support the breed and the breed club, and fight for changes from within, than
to give up. Of course, you do make a statement by not being a member, but
then you no longer have a say in what happens.
Over the years I have seen our board do a number of things I did not agree
with. Two that come to mind are the Conditional Class, and the limit on the
numbers of Select. I continued to work and speak out against these two
things, and now they are gone.
No one member of our club is so influential that it would cause me to give
up on the breed parent club. Our board has spoken, (half did not agree) and
so it is time to stand behind them, and let them know if you do not agree.
Nothing can be gained by leaving other than to make a statement, which is at
times can have some value. But, then you no longer can vote, or influence any
changes needed in the future.
Many people do not support our government, but still support our troops. I
see this the same way. Let those who voted in a manner you do not agree
with, know how you feel. Be heard as a member, and speak out when you feel
changes are needed' as a member of the GSDCA. That is how we do things in
America.
This nation does not quit, and we as a people have a right and an obligation
to speak up. The same should apply to our club.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
