Dear Anti-Peta Friends -
as you know, we lost in the California State Assembly when key committed
"No" votes chose to support AB1634, allowing it to squeak out of the
Assembly by a single vote. Assemblywoman Richardson, after promising to
vote no or abstain, switched her vote to one of support. She's now running
for the 37th Congressional District Seat (Long Beach, CA vacated due to Rep
Millender-MacDonald's passing) against State Senator Jenny Oropeza. This
election is an emergency election taking place on June 26.
We would like to send two strong messages:
- to State Senator Oropeza who's committed to voting no, we would like to
offer her our support, money & time
- to Assemblywoman Richardson that we will not support any candidate's
interest in future office if they betray our trust
Please take a moment to contact the campaign, send a check (with all your
information including occupation), offer to volunteer, write letters to the
local Southern California papers (the Register, the Times ....) and make it
plain the Honorable Senator has your support because of her no vote.
There's little time to mobilize. At the bottom of this thread there's the
contact information for Jenny's campaign.

Just chatted with Ca State Senator Jenny Oropeza who is running for
Congresswoman Juanita Millender-MacDonald 's US Congress Seat (District 37)
against Assemblywoman Richardson. You all remember Assemblywoman
Richardson - she gave away her vote to Levine after promising to
abstain/oppose AB1634. Senator Oropeza is voting AGAINST AB1634 and she
will be attending Great Western.
So what you can you do?
- send letters of endorsement. Let Senator Oropeza use your name in her
campaign
- volunteer for her campaign - she needs precinct walkers, phone bankers
(can be done from any area code, just ask for the list)
- write checks! Any amount will help her DEFEAT Richardson and send a
message that we take commitments of support seriously.
I'll be at the Antioch dog show Sunday morning collecting remittances. If
you send a check make certain you note that you're a member of Cal
Federation of Dog Clubs, Women for Responsible Pet Ownership, or CDOC.
Thank her for pledging to vote against.
There's little time until the Special Election of Jun 26. Let's ensure Jenny
wins the seat handily.
