Some old-----
I've been judging dog shows for nearly 45 yrs--both Specialties and all Breed
shows. During the 70's 80 90's,when I was judging 40-60 shows per year,I was
privileged to give BIS to our wonderful German Shepherd Dogs at least 10 times
,with handlers like Ken Rayner,Doug Crane,Don Kille LaMar Kuhns Jimmy Moses
etc etc. I was always very much aware that I was well known as a GSD
breeder/judge,and therefore had to push the bar up for the GSD that was before
me in the BIS ring, They had to be extra special on gait,meet the standard
,and have that little extra in showmanship. I never regretted my choice,and was
proud to award the BIS ribbon each time.
Some new---
This past weekend (Dec 6-7-2008 ),I judged my LAST show up at St. Cloud ,MN
--Granite City KC. I've judged their show for 10 yrs,judged all my breeds (
different ones every year) judged BIS at least 4 times. Put up an English
Cocker. Clumber Spaniel etc,but never had the choice to put up a GSD. This
year, I had an exceptional mover, young beautiful bitch that Judge Bev Capstick
put up in the BREED,and Judge Polly Smith put up in the Group and sent her on
to me for BIS I've never seen her before--don't know her,and am just now
looking a my catalog. Her name is Ch.Anne-Isle's Heiress V Kenlyn Kaleef--
owners---A. Vandukman & Martha Simonet & Sheree Moses--handled by Kent Boyles.
Sire is Ch. Wayside's HonkyTonk Man--- Dam -Kenlyn's Halston Kaleef
A very lovely correct bitch and it was fitting that I had the chance to put up
a GSD for my last BIS. She looks young right now,but I predict a winning future
as she matures. As a foot-note,It was between her and a gorgeous top winning
Basset Hound. Also on Sunday, I saw her win the Breed again,under Judge Larry
Mackie. I had 75 dogs to judge and left to go home,when I finished judging,so
don't know about Group or BIS
