[ SHOWGSD-L ] Some Things to consider

I remember talking to Paul, right after Hunte was voted in, and he thought
when he went to a show, everyone would jump on him. The truth is, when we get
together, all this arguing and moaning, (I left the beginning of that phrase
off) is gone. We all know that we are strong willed people. We have strong
emotions, and unlike our dogs, we are seldom aloof.
But, while we shout, yell, and criticize each other, we stand together in
the love of our breed. I know when we get to a show, let alone the National, it
is all behind us, and we smile together to watch the Parade of Greats, or the
fantastic puppies that are the future of our breed. We can't but help
grinning at the young handlers, and a warm feeling at the old folks, (other
than
me) who will share a kind word, and a smile.
It makes us feel great to hug an old friend, and even if we have said some
strong words over the past year, that is in the past and melts away from the
warmth of friendship in and out of the ring. We don't hold grudges, and we
never let a past word or phrase ruin the great times of togetherness we all
feel
at the National.
When Lew and I ran against each other, and went to Reno, him to judge and me
to show, we laughed no end at those who thought we might be at each other's
throat. I was so glad to see him, and he me, (I am sure). It is a bond we
share with our breed, and nothing can break it.
I have no worries that the words thrown about on this List, are nothing more
that passing fancies, and the hearts will warm, the feeling will remain
strong, the friendships will grow, and the emotions will carry us through a
great
national.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
