Denise, My experience with EPI (one bitch several years ago) and from what I have learned tal;king to others who have had dogs affected is that they eat like they are starved (which they are).... They would eat ANY food you put down from the most expensive all the way down to corn bread.? Their stool is copious, fouls-smelling, and light clay colored. Some dogs are just anorexic... no apparent reason, just don't like to eat.... apparently.? Those dogs REALLY drive me nuts... LOL?? My solution for that problem has been fried chicken livers.... cut in very small pieces (they like them fried vs boiled or raw) and mixed with the food so that if they get all the liver they HAVE to eat the food.? Also feed in a crate with NO distractions.... including you.....? It is inexpensive but time consuming and hasn't failed to work for me ... yet? (A very wise old black man?once told me that?YET was an acronym for You Eligible Too... oh it was not FB). And still we are back to genetics. My skinny boy is 25" and 63lbs. He looks skinny and barely eats dog food. I have taken him to the vet numerous times. He has no other signs of EPI or anything else other than being skinny. Stools look great, and nothing else is wrong. He's wormed naturally and chemically. Tried, emzymes, probiotics, Missing Link, cottage cheese.... I do know that he is sensitive to corn and gets the itchies bad if I feed it. No corn, no wheat, not by products for him. My big boy is an easy keeper. He could eat paper and thrive. He could eat food with corn and have not problem, but I feed both w/o corn because the one is sensitive, and I'm just not going to feed two different foods if I can. I've come to the conclusion, after vet visits, tests, wormers, antibiotics, satin balls, supplements, and a myriad of foods, this boy is skinny, just skinny, got the genetic short end of the stick, and will just be that way.
