[ SHOWGSD-L ] Skin allergies

This is a first for me with a dog of mine. She has a hot spot on her hip, but
upon closer inspection seems to have some raw patches on her back legs, in the
creases of her front legs, and on her belly and grouin. As of two days ago, she
was fine as I check her frequently since she does scratch on occasion and her
skin has been clear. She does have a habit of rolling out in the gravel in the
run, but since this stuff is on her belly and areas that this wouldn't normally
reach, I'm puzzled.
Have you any ideas as to what may have caused this so quickly, and any
recommendations for treatment. She has a vet appointment, but I'm worried about
this since nothing in her diet or routine has changed. She's five and a half
years of age.
Also, what's best to relieve the itching she's experiencing now? She has had a
bath with medicated (RX) shampoo.
