Does this mean that people not having money to go to the shows is only true in
St. Louis? But the rest of the country has enough to get there?

I think one year of rotation in today's times will show it no longer is a good
idea.
The cost today to hold the National is not the same as it was years ago. Times
have changed some people can not even join the GSDCA for the cost so spend
their money for necessary things.
Dog Showing is costly today regardless of where it is held for the average
individual. Now the Purina Farm offers all that is needed to hold the show no
need to purchase it. If the GSDCA can afford to hold it elsewhere go for it.

Having lived
in Florida, try being the Miami Connection…..they can’t keep dogs being shown
at their homes, cause it takes a day to get out of the state. The shows are
clumped together, mostly in January, when the weather is not necessarily
decent, and there is next to nothing the rest of the year.
Entry at the Florida shows, all breeds, are very low, lower than in most
places, that are not part of the January cluster. It is mostly in state

it can take a long time to get to places, because we travel by vehicle on a
road….there’s no flying dogs of any use, there’s no high speed trains,
nothing. Welcome to the USA, where once upon a time, infrastructure did
matter.
To get Streamer, he had to take a 4
day road trip from Austin….Texas is also a very big state, with great
distances between its major cities…….
Rotating Nationals, given the costs of
venues, I think money has overtaken the ability to rotate them. There, my
half cents on the issue.

this came up because somebody was asking about distances in California. It’s
hard to imagine how ‘long’ it is… so I just put it there as an example.
THAT’s ALL. Seeing it by itself doesn’t really give you a good idea… But
seeing it in comparison with the size of most of the NE does.
