It doesn't cut down on the shedding. As a groomer I try to explain this to people - especially the ones that want a LAB shaved! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. So you gotta do what the customer wants. The only breed I absolutely REFUSE to ever shave is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. For my own dogs... the best way I have found is a nice warm bath and a force dryer. I suggest you do the blow drying outside, hehehehe.
