Actually Ileana, I forgot to add the commercial breeder part. However, you
do realize that there are people out there, some highly regarded breeders
and/or handlers even, who make a large portion of their livelihood off of
breeding and selling puppies and/or breeding, buying, reselling, & showing
dogs.
Commercial: 1 : the exchange or buying and selling of goods, commodities,
property, or services esp. on a large scale and involving transportation
from place to place
Perhaps this could be why the Board has had a little difficulty getting the
wording down without making it too difficult for our "most respected"
members to remain members.
Maybe there could be a line like:
As a Member, Breeder and/or Individual, I resolve to not engage in selling
of puppies to commercial breeding entities, those engaged in mass
wholesaling or reselling of dogs or puppies (defined as more than 2 puppies
per transaction) or those engaged in mass production of puppies or dogs
(defined as more than 8 litters per year).
I think personally adding a "definition" is going to be the deal killer for
a lot of people; but the intent of the above wording is to remove the
possibility of having people like Hunte and friends being allowed into
membership. I understand there are some breeders and/or handlers that
engage in the purchase of whole litters to a single entity for resell and I
understand there are breeders who breed more than 8 litters per year. My
point at using these number is that I think they are reasonable. I don't
think there's any reason for anyone to sell more than 2 dogs to the same
individual at the same time.
Someone engaged in the sale of 8 litters of puppies - well, how anyone would
have time for a full time job and properly raise 8 litters in one year -
well I'd find that a bit difficult to believe it's not a commercial venture
- even if it's not a licensed business venture.
But that's me.

This is a great idea. Puts the dogs welfare in the hands of those who should
be responsible in the first place. The breeders. Add something about not
