The first thing you might consider is a different vet. Perhaps there
arebreeders in that area who could recommend one who knows what he is doing.

AS some of you know we also do German Shepherd Rescue. We recently got
back a dog we had placed over two years ago, when we first started. I
had him in the kennel for about two weeks. I found him to be very
smart, eager to please and of sound temperment. We placed him a week
ago and we just got the following e-mail from the people who adopted
him.
"I am really worried about Oliver, I spent $130.00 on him to go to the
vet. We thought he had a ear infection, he was and still is acting
crazy, he cries and in a deep sleep, he will get straight up and run
around and bite at him self and does a lot of AIR BITING, and he is
going to hurt himself, he will bash into things, he act's like something
is hurting him or biting himself. We took him to the vet, ear's are
clear, and he had a bath and frontline on him all bedding was washed
before he used anything and crate was washed out. I love him and Freda
and him get along, but when he runs out of his cage in the middle of the
night, it ends up spooking her and everyone else and he does this all
day. What is causing this, I don't want to loose another dog, is he
having seizures? They had to sedate Oliver and put a muzzle on him, he
got mad at the Doc for checking in his ear's and wouldn't let us help
him, so had to sedate him and even coming around, she tried to clip his
nails and he tried to bite all of us through this whole mess. She told
us to try Benadryl too on Oliver, to see if it is allergies, then we
have to go back, because he is not doing better. Do you have any ideal
what might be causing this?"
I saw nothing during this time that indicated any kinf do g problem
while he was here. They do have another GSD, Freda and she seems to be
doing fine. They came to us for Oliver because they had just lost their
older male during a teeth cleaning(?). Freda would just lay around and
wouldn't eat so they decided to get a playmate for her.
