Yep --- TOTAL SUTHUN' HOSPITALITY along with the truly
TOTAL DOG!! Oh how I miss is so, but to just see this sharing
post, gives me the opportunity to relive my own great memories.
However, I do remember, and in checking the stuff herein on Da
List, those shows in Penna. & N.J. have always been pleasant.
Oh, sure wish I was OK enough to head to Texas next month
but alas, medical messes are #1 right now DERN. Good to see
folks lovin' the dogs and the people being family too with this

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Shows can be fun!
All too often it seems like more bad show experiences are posted than
good ones, so to mix it up I thought I'd share my experience at the
recent Specialty show in Augusta, GA.
Besides it being hot hot hot, I had a blast! I met a lot of new
folks and their dogs. Got to meet "big names," little names," and
"in-between names" in the Breed. Finally got to meet in person
several people I had already met in cyberspace on the List. Met a
couple dogs "up close and personal" that I had been dying to meet.
Met a great judge and was taken out to lunch by a top handler who I
had never met before, but have long admired his skill. What a thrill
it was to talk dogs with these experienced breeders/handlers/judges!
I attended an awesome BBQ set in the gorgeous pastoral countryside of
Georgia. The food was outstanding. Ribs to die for! I even tried a
dish known simply as "hash," but looked like some slop I would feed
to my dogs. Turned out it was spicy and delicious! Bob and Linda
Turman really know how to put on a party!
There was some "drama" when a young dog escaped from his crate at the
BBQ. EVERYONE was concerned and did what they could to help find
this dog. Thankfully, he was recovered no worse for wear.
The only not so pleasant thing happened when my partner and I tried
to fly back home... The new Augusta airport is beautiful, but the
service stinks -- there was nobody at the US Airways counter to check
our bags and we missed the flight and thus, our connecting flight.
We had to rent a car and drive home, but we made it -- tired and a
day late, but we arrived home safe and sound.
Oh, and by the way, I am a Newbie. A total unknown, yet I was
treated with respect by everyone I met. I did not encounter a single
unfriendly person. Not one. And, I did not hear negative comments
ringside.
The Augusta club put on a *wonderful* show!!! Thank you all for your
hard work! I plan to attend the show again. It was great fun!
