None of us can possibly understand the heartlessness and senseless hatred IN
someone that
would commit these horrific deeds against ANY other human or animal.
I don't believe it is even "against" any type of person or animal so much as
the unreasoning core
of evil and hatred that has developed within a person. No one can fix nor
legislate evil........
Great post Ed.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Showing dogs and The Oakland Raiders. Long
Because there is very limited conversation these past few months on the
scheduled topic that this list was created for I have decided to take yet
another "Liberty" of straying away from topic subjects, so I will apologize in
advance for doing so! I wake up this morning after a very long Saturday of
cooking and fellowshipping with other BBQ teams of all backgrounds, ethnics,
political views, genders, and faiths.....and I learn of yet another horrific
devastating mass shooting, perhaps the worst in our nation's history. It
APPEARS that the shooting scene was targeted and aimed at a segment of society
whose views were in conflict with his. So a weapon of mass destruction was
needed to convince them that he was right and they were wrong. I grew up in the
60's in a time of the racial riots of Los Angeles ( Watts) Detroit and a few
others. The Black Panthers were born in the same city I was in the late 60's. I
attended an all black school until my family moved from Oakland CA to Hayward
CA in 1964. I pretty much lived a segregated life style. Even though my father
( a black Cherokee Indian) experienced a childhood of racism and discrimination
he did NOT let that influence how he raised his three children. I still grew up
thinking that most white folks did not care for black folks and most black
folks did not care for white folks! I did not grow up seeing these two groups
interacting pleasantly with each other on a regular basis..... Until I went to
an Oakland Raider game in 1967... I was almost 14 years old! I saw folks of ALL
colors screaming and hugging each other! Slapping hands all because they were
united as ONE in cheering on this football team dressed in Silver and Black! I
had never before seen these two groups acting like they were all one giant
family! Perhaps that's why I love going to dog shows ( God knows it ain't
because I win).. Gay folks and Straight folks and black folks and white folks
and rich folks and poor folks ... The Cuban Doctor, the Jewish layer, the white
family with BLACK children, the gay nurses, the Indian CEO from Canada...
Everybody is welcome... How much better would our world be if it operated on
the principles of the dog show! My goal this week is to see how long I can go
without getting angry or upset at any one for any reason....Ed Hill
