And, that's what it's all about -- FUN! Although I'm really rotten at it, I
love double handling. I love the bells, whistles, duck calls etc., and I enjoy
watching the doublers tear around the ring desperately trying to get their
dog's attention. It adds to the "atmosphere" of showing.
I hope there will never come a day when doubling is discouraged at Specialty
shows.

I have made it clear to exhibitors, and the AKC. I don't care about
double handling. So long as I get to see the dog on a loose lead at one point,
and so long as I evaluate temperament, I don't care.
I know those outside the ring want to feel they are involved, and sometimes
to the point that they think the reason they won is because they doubled
the dog so well.
If that keeps people coming back to the shows, that works for me. I
actually will hold the class to let the double handlers get in position. I
have
even told some double handlers to change where they were standing to get
in a better place. We should all strive to get to a better place.
I want the shows to be fun for everyone. If double handling helps that, go
for it.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
