HI Angela,
You've touched on a hot topic. My "opinion" is NOT a popular one, but I
will tell you anyway. First of all, double-handling is SUPPOSED to be
frowned upon everywhere, not just at the all-breeds. But since AKC reps are
seldom at specialties, anything goes. Have you ever gotten knocked down at
a specialty by one of those manic doublers? I have and it's no fun.
Sometimes there's more activity going on outside the ring than in! As long
as judges allow this, it will happen. I believe that GSDs do not need this;
they should be focused on their handlers, not owners and others ringing
bells, blowing whistles, screaming and yelling at them outside the ring.
GSDs are intelligent and can be taught to lead out without all the BS.
Double handling is ridiculous. But like someone said about another
topic--WINNING at all costs, right? (Double handling CAN <not always of
course> cover up poor temperament and poorer movement.) I hate it.

Isnt it illegal to double handle your GSD in Allbreed classes? I was told
that in no uncertain terms it was....just wondering how we can do it for the
specialties...always was curious ;) Angela scott
