Description of Dogs: Used to own, train and show Dobes and Rotties and
a couple of Collies. Before that, owned my first
GSD 40 yrs ago and had them off and on over the
years since. Been out of the ring for 15 plus
years now and presently own GSDs, my original
favorite. I have 2 bitches that are obedience
trained and work the farm. I have one show pup I
am training for the conf. ring and one male pup
that is obedience training.

Biography: In 1968, I purchased my first GSD from a pet
store where he was lying in a cage half his size.
he couldn't stand if he wanted to. I literally
carried him home...because he didn't know what
the pavement or grass was and was freaked out,
refusing to budge. Over the next couple of weeks,
he learned that he was my best friend and became
my shadow and my constant companion, there when I
needed a shoulder to cry on, there when I would
fall and needed picking back up and there to
guard me with his life whenever he felt I was
threatened. He died a few years later...and with
him, he took my heart. I got a few more dogs over
the next few years and began training in
obedience and professional grooming. Over the
years, I've shown 2 Dobes to a CD, one to a CDX,
and shown a fair number in the conf. ring as well
as Rotties and a couple of Rough Collies. In
between, I kept catching GSDs in the corner of my
eyes and they tugged at my heartstrings. I
rescued a couple of them from the pound when
their last day arrived and they lived with me
until they passed as a member of my family. In
the 80's my best friend, a Rottie breeder and
owner, was killed and I needed to take a break
from the world of showing and handling. I
purchased a nice male GSD in 2004 just to loose
him when we were evacuated from our homes for the
4 hurricanes that pelted us over the ensuing
month. He disappeared from my home when I was
evacuated the first time with my 3 kids and
husband. No one ever found what became of him but
I also lost 6 horses during the same time period
due to the same storms. Shortly after the storms
stopped, I got a female from the same breeder and
still have her. Purchased her mom (6 yrs old)
because I couldn't stand to see her in the kennel
there just pacing all the time. The two of them
are the farm 'owners' here and live with my
husband and myself and 8 horses. Last year, I
purchaed a show prospect just to learn her heart
was defective and her prognosis was little better
than maybe reaching 2 years of age. I now have a
replacement (I still have the one girl with the
bad heart) and she is growing up to be a real
beauty. I am interested once more in getting out
there and showing her. I also for 30 years was a
vet tech (now retired due to a near fatal
reaction and subsequent allergy to Latex) which
prohibits from Latex exposure. I now sit home,
enjoy my horses and my dogs. My husband, daughter
and grandson work with the dogs, training,
playing and swimming with them. And I look
forward to getting my grandson started on jr.
handling and my daughter in the breed ring with
me.
