So we rent a bus and party all the way to Purina. Did you ask if they had space
for indoor agility and obedience? I have seen the area for sheep and it was
very nice. I photographed in the area for the WDA I think the facility should
be given a try. I do think that the national still needs to move around to the
voted on schedule middle, east , middle west , middle ,east etc. That gives the
center folks twice the advantage as the coasters and it gives the coaster a
chance every 4th year to attend a national within a days drive. It is a fair as
it can be.
If they park it in a central location every year then I just won't bother to
go. I can buy the tapes for 150.00 and see the dogs. Enjoy the Pity Party and
maybe even a live feed.

I am currently sitting home recovering from Rotator Cuff surgery and so have
some time on my hands. I am by no means an expert on all the ins and outs of
what we need for our National, nor do I want to step on the toes of our hard
working board or committees but it seems to me that going each year to an
equestrian venue and spending $10,000.00 for sod to try to make it workable for
our dogs was fine when it was our only option. Beginning this year we have the
option of the Purina Farms Event Center that is fairly centralized in the
country as well as set up SPECIFICALLY for dogs. I spoke with Brock
Fitzgerald, Director of the Purina events center this afternoon just to be able
to answer some of my own questions. He states that next week they are
installing "alpha sport padded floor" in the 45,000 sq ft. exhibition hall at a
cost of $500,000.00. He states that this is going to be an indoor track and
field surface like would be used at your State
Universities or the Olympi
cs - nothing even resembling "astro turf". This should be excellent for dogs
and handlers alike. He also stated that on the 350 acres that comprise Purina
Farms they have, I believe he said 700 sheep, to use free of charge for
herding. I don't know what it normally costs to bring in sheep, care for them
for the week then ship them back out but again the man said "free". There very
well may be things about Purina Farms that make it unusable for us but either
way I believe that this needs to be looked at very carefully and soon. He also
stated that "they would sure like an answer soon because other clubs have
expressed an interest in our dates". If you are interested and would like to

Lastly, no I don't work for Purina and no I don't live in Missouri I live in
