Do you think that the Jacksonville Equestrian Center would let us use their
facilities, including fresh-spread sod, etc., for 1/10,000th of the price
they probably charged the Royal Lipizzaner Stallions Production Company? Or
are they a charitable, non-profit facility? I suppose we could afford to
hold our National there if we were to charge each exhibitor, owner, handler,
spectator, and groomer about $90-some dollars admittance charge, per day,
and hope and pray to sell out all the seats and standing room. I am sure it
is a beautiful facility, but, if you read Joan's reports, many beautiful
facilities can not be used because of the high cost. We seem like a lot of
people, but, a few hundred attendees can hardly compete with a house of
35,000+. BTW, how much did you pay to see the show? I am sure they pull
in a nice gate.
One of the really neat thing about us GSDCA members is that we would NEVER
ruin a perfectly good brewsky with an egg!!! I am sure that is not the
reason the BOD turned down some of these lovely facilities.
Anyone remember the fuss made when admittance WAS charged to non-members at
the National?? I remember scrambling to find my current membership card, as
I had NO intention of paying entry when it was not necessary! I remember
standing in line to get in, too. I think our gate was bigger back then,
because the classes were.

P.S. I really DO know how to properly spell Janis Joplin's name, it was
late, I was tired, and Spellchecker said it looked ok to him!! Go figure!!
I mean, it is not as if Janis was as important as Elvis was, or as Bill
Medley is!! I haven't lost that lovin' feeling for them yet!

I just got home from a show by the Royal Lipizzan Stallions held at the
brand new Jacksonville Equestrian Center. I'm sure the Board members know a
whole bunch of stuff I know nothing about. I'll be really looking forward,
however, to knowing about the sites they've found that brought about their
decision to reject this Equestrian Center because those sure must be totally
fantastic sites. I kept on visualizing our Selects going around that
beautiful ring and all the vendors around ther roomy perimiters.Visited
those magnificent beasts in that brand new, roomy barn too. Could it be
that the Board folks just want a little egg in their beer? nah.
