We've had three puppies that we bought over the years (since 1989) at 8 to 12 weeks of age as show potential. Unfortunately, they didn't turn out, however we still kept them here. A "show potential" puppy is just that - potential. It certainly doesn't guarantee that the puppy will be a champion. If you want a better chance of a dog becoming a champion, you should buy an older one then maybe you'll get your wish. And, don't forget, there is always the performance events and we've gone that route with the ones that didn't turn out for the breed ring.
