I understand both your and Dave's reasoning (and Dawn's), And indeed,
animals have "natural" rights (rights derived from nature) rather than
"legal" rights (given by customs or laws). Unfortunately, as in much
of the language co-opted by the animal rights groups, the correct
meaning of animals' rights have been distorted into a legal or
"claims" right. So, i don't used the term animals' rights, but prefer
to comment on the human's moral responsibility regarding animals. So
many people, no thanks to the AR's, do not understand the difference
between an animal's rights and Animal Rights that even to use the term
is confusing. so I don't
