And just how long do you think that you could have prisoners live in tent
cities in other areas of the country?
The state juvenile facility here does a lot of work with stray animals. Other
counties have at times used inmates for shelter workers and they had huge
issues with the care.
A state mental hospital in California ran a large farm and dairy that fed the
prison system until Gov Regan closed it down because he felt te private sector
should be the supplier. Contracting things out is the way to reduce the size of
government and fund your friends. Heck, we are fighting wars that way now. And
it works so well.

Thanks for sharing this; I have read several articles over the years about
Sheriff Joe's successful reign in Arizona and have wondered why his success has
not been copied by the hundreds of like facilities across the
country...guess others just like to b*tch about the prison system instead of
copying what
