I am so sorry Penny. I know how much Forest meant to you.
DM - We explain to our puppy buyers that the test is actually in its infancy
stages with the GSD, and was develped for another breed. That for now, it is
all we have, and we (us) utilize the information to the best of our ability.
We tell them that test results have been proven wrong in several cases out
there, and that we cannot guarantee their pups will or will not ever develope
DM.
To our surprise, 100% of our puppy buyers have researched DM, from the link on
our website, and realize it is not a 100% guarantee to just breed clear animals.

So sorry to hear about your loss, it's terrible to lose them.
The OFA DM test is flawed. It was originally developed for another breed.
Many now believe that DM in GSDs is different than DM in other breeds.
There have been many false positives and false negatives.
If your vet didn't tell you this he should have, but the only way to
confirm DM is by necropsy and there are many other problems that mimic DM.
The OFA is giving false hopes and when we tell potential puppy buyers our
dogs are "DM clear" we are not being completely honest with them, because
we really don't know for sure.
The OFA was offered many GSDs to continue the testing but declined.
